The Power of Nature | WE Art SD
The show delves into the profound relationship between humans and nature through visual art. This collaborative exhibition underscores how color, shape, and texture converge to illustrate this intricate connection. Each individual piece plays a unique role in the network of the whole collection, symbolizing the interdependence within nature’s vast system.
The artworks explore the dual nature of our bond with the environment: while nature is essential for our survival, offering healing, comfort, and sustenance, it also possesses the power to challenge and destroy with equal intensity. Some artists abstract natural elements into shapes, lines, and planes, breaking down the complexities of nature into fundamental forms on canvas. This abstraction reveals the underlying patterns and structures within nature, reflecting its role as a sustaining force and healing energy.
Their work captures the delicate balance and intricate beauty of nature’s integration with humanity, offering a more literal yet equally profound perspective.
It is only when all parts align and work together that balance is achieved, mirroring nature’s own harmony that sustains life despite its inherent unpredictability. Through their diverse approaches, the artists invite viewers to confront and appreciate the complexity and unity of this vital relationship.
Artists: Charlene Mosley, Eva D’Amico, Kaitlyn Fusco, Laura Lehman
Medium: Oil and acrylic paintings on canvas, watercolors on paper, mixed media on paper, and photography.

UPCOMING SOLO EXHIBITION: Resilient Spirits
|
August 1-September 30th
|
Charlene Mosley’s current series explores the quiet, persistent resilience found in both nature and the human spirit—the instinct to endure, to adapt, and to survive. Through vibrant, textural oil paintings, bright and fluid watercolors, and intricately expressive drawings, Mosley visualizes the wild within us all. Intertwining human forms with elements of untamed wildlife and organic plant shapes, the artist wants to reveal a connection to the primal, emotional undercurrents that connect us to the natural world. Bold hues and layered textures reflect both inner strength and raw vulnerability.
Pollinators seen as fragile, like butterflies—appear throughout her work not only as symbols of delicate beauty, but of astonishing endurance. A butterfly, seemingly ephemeral, survives migration, transformation amidst often hostile environments. Wild animals such as tigers, are a reflection of inner courage, strength and adventure. Snakes are a symbol of taking risk and shedding an old self to adapt and flourish into something bigger. These creatures become metaphors for the hidden resilience we carry, the instincts we suppress, and the wild beauty we often forget exists within us.
Charlene Mosley invites viewers to activate and embrace their inner wild and highlights the importance of the balance between inward looking and outward living.

What is the show about?
ARTIST STATEMENT: As an artist, I am fascinated with visually exploring the duality of the human existence and the creation of balance when looking inward and living outwardly. We live in a world where we strive to present ourselves as refined, polished beings, elegant and graceful. We adorn ourselves with carefully crafted masks to fit societal norms and expectations beneath all this lies a wilderness that so often is trained early on in childhood to be tamed and caged - a primal force that pulses with life. It is this repressed spirit that I aim to capture on canvas with a variety of exotic animals longing to be freed. It is this juxtaposition that forms the heart of my latest series of paintings themed, “Embrace Your Inner Wild.” I seek to activate the mind of human nature and explore our connection to the wilderness in this modern-day society.
In each artwork of this series, I merge the human form with expressively painted elements of the natural world, blurring the lines between civilization and wilderness. Tigers symbolize attributes, such as curiosity, courage, and danger, their amber eyes gleaming with fierce determination. Snakes slither sinuously across the canvas, a presence of unpredictability, risk and renewal. Birds take flight, their wings outstretched in a graceful display of freedom and power. Pollinators dance among vibrant blooms mesmerizing eyes with their beauty, but more importantly, their delicate movements echoing the intricacies of human emotion and resilience.
Intertwined with these intriguing creatures and plants, human figures are painted in a raw, often nude, and unapologetically authentic state. There is a vulnerability in their nakedness, a rawness that speaks to the primal instincts that lie dormant within us all.
Through vibrant brushstrokes, thick oil paint and bold splashes of watercolor, I seek to evoke the energy and vitality of the wild. Each painting is a visual and textural experience, calling viewers to immerse themselves in the untamed beauty of the natural world. But beyond the surface aesthetics, there is a deeper message embedded within my work - a reminder of our inherent connection to a wild, adventure-seeking, explorative and walking-the-world-with-wonder spirit.

Meet Royal Talens North America's newest Ambassador!
Charlene Mosley
|
“In regards to how I got involved with Royal Talens, that kind of happened while I was working on the film, Loving Vincent for six months in Poland in 2016. During that time frame, I had really gotten to know van Gogh Oil Paints and fell in love with their texture and viscosity as well as the ease of mixing colors that were so close to van Gogh’s original colors. I painted more than 250 frames for the feature film in van Gogh oil paints.
I returned to the US, and the Loving Vincent promotional touring began throughout soCal and other states, such as Las Vegas and Oregon. I had the pleasure to meet the Royal Talens team and learn even more about the company and its educational program materials. From there on, I began teaching occasional classes and workshops with van Gogh Oils and in collaboration with the Royal Talens team. Just recently I was invited to join the Ambassador team and I am super excited to keep learning and sharing with the community about the high qualty art materials Royal Talens offers. ” — CHARLENE MOSLEY |
“I first met Charlene while working together at the MacPherson’s Dealer Workshop. Charlene was our featured artist sharing her experiences of working on the 2017 film Loving Vincent. If you haven’t seen the movie, you should, as it’s the first fully animated film done completely in Van Gogh oil paint. Charlene was one of the over a hundred artists who lent their talents to creating the over 65,000 frames of hand painted works of art.
Charlene has represented Royal Talens on several occasions, visiting our retail partners for special events and demonstrations, and teaching workshops where she has been an inspirational instructor. For our Ambassador program, Royal Talens seeks out those individuals who are not only talented artists achieving recognition in their field, but those who have a sincere commitment to art education, who are continually seeking experience and expertise, and share freely of that knowledge with others. Charlene is one of those special people, and we are very excited that she has accepted our offer to become a Royal Talens Ambassador.” — JEFF OLSON, ART EDUCATION DIRECTOR Taken form ROYAL TALNS NA website CLICK HERE FOR PAGE |
